1A-2 Region I District 3 recap October 8, 2013
Sudan scaled the state rankings by moving to 806 from 865 this week, the biggest jump in 1A-2 Region I District 3. The Hornets were able to move up by defeating Smyer 38-6.
Sudan made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,799 from 9,519. The improvement was the result of a 38-6 victory over the Bobcats last week.
Springlake-Earth's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zack Rowan threw for 71 and 1 touchdown and Zach Riley had 76 yards receiving. Monroe Luther helped Springlake-Earth's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 17 yards.
The Wolverines' dynamic duo of Rowan and Riley proved to be unstoppable against Abernathy, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Luther helped Springlake-Earth's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 17 yards.
Springlake-Earth's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Wolverines feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Elijah Ramon has thrown for 311 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while J.T. Weldon has 5 catches for 181 yards. Ramon also leads the league in rushing with 277 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Bovina takes on Farwell. The Mustangs are in fifth place, while the Steers are in second place.
