There's no place like home for the Blue Valley Northwest Huskies, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 44-37 victory over Washburn Rural on Tuesday. Given Blue Valley Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Blues are ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lainie Douglas was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Blue Valley Northwest's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabi Mcfall, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Blue Valley Northwest's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Washburn Rural, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Blue Valley Northwest will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Storm at 5:00 p.m. As for Washburn Rural, they will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans on Friday.
