Baseball Recap: Rossville Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McCutcheon, Rossville was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Tri-County Cavaliers. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 win the Cavaliers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Brogan Lanum made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lanum was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Eli Barnes looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Zac Wainscott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Evan Mcdonald, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Rossville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-County only posted an OBP of .387.

Rossville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Tri-County, they moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Rossville will square off against Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tri-County, they will be playing at home against North White at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
