Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plano). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Parkview Christian Academy Falcons a 29-0 shutout on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Reapers as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Chesney Schimandle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Schimandle was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Plano got a massive performance out of Lindsey Cocks, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Cocks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Klein, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.
Plano was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .765. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Plano's victory bumped their record up to 5-10-1. As for Parkview Christian Academy, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.
Coming up, Plano will face off against Sandwich at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Parkview Christian Academy, they will take on Newark at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
