The Alhambra Lions can finally bid farewell to their 32-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They skirted past Browne 42-39. That three points margin sets a new team best for Alhambra this season.
Browne's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Desmyn Beavers-smith, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Adam Chaffin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Browne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Alhambra's victory ended a 15-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-15. As for Browne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alhambra will face off against Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carl Hayden Community presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Alhambra in Arizona (Carl Hayden Community is ranked 85th, while Alhambra is ranked 327th). As for Browne, Browne and North will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
