The Bainbridge Bearcats will head out on the road to challenge the Peach County Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Bainbridge came up short against Miller County on Wednesday, falling 8-1. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Preston Hutto was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bainbridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bowen Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Peach County entered their tilt with Bainbridge on Tuesday with ten consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 11. They never let the Bearcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Owen Meredith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meredith was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.
In other pitching news, Peach County got a great performance from Jackson Peavy as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Xavion Childs, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Rigsby Booth, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Peach County pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bainbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
