Basketball Recap: D'hanis Piles Up the Points Against Leakey

D'Hanis was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Leakey on Thursday. The D'Hanis Cowboys really took it to the Leakey Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-23 win. The Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead D'Hanis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ruger Cote, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Cote is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brent Frosch, who posted nine points along with seven steals and six assists.

D'Hanis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 16 consecutive games.

D'Hanis is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.6 points. As for Leakey, they are on a 35-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22.

D'Hanis wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-32 victory against Nueces Canyon on the 10th. As for Leakey, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Utopia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Utopia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.
