The Garrard County Golden Lions will face off against the Western Hills Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Garrard County will be strutting in after a victory while Western Hills will be coming in after a loss.
Garrard County took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Somerset, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Garrard County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Somerset on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Emily Hounshell made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jazlynn Shelton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Zoe Jordon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Western Hills was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Great Crossing, falling 7-1. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with Great Crossing recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Western Hills saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Noble, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Garrard County's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Western Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Western Hills' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Garrard County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Western Hills, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Garrard County keep running through batters, or will Western Hills buck the trend?
