The Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers extended their postseason success on Friday against the Newman Greenies. They came out on top against the Greenies by a score of 35-27. The win was just business as usual for Calvary Baptist Academy, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.
Calvary Baptist Academy was led to victory by Abram Wardell and James Simon. Wardell threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns, while Simon gained 208 total yards and two touchdowns. Wardell hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games.
Newman's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Friend, who threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns. Peter Loop was another key contributor, picking up 61 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Calvary Baptist Academy pushed their record up to 13-0 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.77 points. As for Newman, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Calvary Baptist Academy will take on St. Charles Catholic at TBD on Saturday. St. Charles Catholic will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Newman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
