Basketball Recap: North Pitt Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Khamoni Heath and Zihanna Lightfoot

If North Pitt was riding high fresh off their 51-28 takedown of Washington last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The North Pitt Panthers came up short against the West Craven Eagles on Friday, falling 53-28. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Zihanna Lightfoot and Khamoni Heath certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lightfoot dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 boards, while Heath posted seven points. Lightfoot has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played.

North Pitt has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for West Craven, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

North Pitt will head out to take on Greene Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Lightfoot and An'Nysha Wooten. As for West Craven, they will square off against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
