It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Master's Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Father Lopez Green Wave 14-3. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
James Rudolph made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Sawyer Smith was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Trey Seluk was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Master's Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Father Lopez only posted an OBP of .435.
Master's Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Father Lopez, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15.
