Basketball Recap: Hebbronville Takes a Loss

Hebbronville lost against Bishop back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hebbronville Longhorns were beaten by the Bishop Badgers 80-38. The Longhorns were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-13.

Hebbronville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Robert Gonzalez, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Oscar Carrillo was another key player, putting up 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

It was another big night for Kristian Ramos, who went 10 of 14 on his way to 25 points in addition to seven boards and five steals for Bishop. Another player making a difference was Miguel Valdez, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Hebbronville's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Bishop, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season.

Hebbronville will host Falfurrias at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hebbronville is facing Falfurrias at the right time seeing as Falfurrias is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bishop, they will venture away from home to square off against Banquete at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bishop's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
