The Old Fort Stockaders will face off against the Lakota Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Old Fort comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Old Fort came up short against Hopewell-Loudon on Friday, falling 18-8. That's two games in a row now that the Stockaders have lost by exactly ten runs.
Old Fort saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbi Ward, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Claire Hunker was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Lakota made sure to put some runs up on the board against Fostoria on Saturday. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Redmen. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Sophia Bomer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lakota got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Strawman, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, Strawman posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Stahl, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Lakota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Lakota's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Old Fort, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Old Fort came up short against Lakota in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 9-4. Can the Stockaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
