The Silver Creek Dragons will challenge the Northview Knights at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Silver Creek is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering New Albany just ended the team's four-match winning streak last Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2.
Silver Creek actually scored more points across those five sets (106-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 13-25, 21-25, 16-14.
Despite the defeat, Silver Creek had strong showings from Dannah Kerberg, who had 17 digs and five aces, and Mia Ferrell, who had ten digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Kerberg is now averaging an impressive 2.1 aces per game.
Meanwhile, Northview had already won 14 in a row and they went ahead and made it 15 on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Vikings.
One reason for the win was Northview's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-9, 25-6.
Northview's victory bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Silver Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Silver Creek has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Northview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Silver Creek might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Northview in their previous matchup back in October of 2018. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
