The Maryvale Flyers lost against the West Seneca East Trojans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Maryvale fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 40-37. Maryvale has struggled against the Trojans recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Leading West Seneca East to victory were Melanie Marcezin and Hailey Alba. Marcezin scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Alba dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Alba has scored at least a third of West Seneca East's points.
Maryvale's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.8 points per game. As for West Seneca East, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Maryvale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. West Seneca East won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th. Lake Shore will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
