The River Valley Falcons will challenge the Del Campo Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Del Campo will be coming in after a loss.
River Valley took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Placer, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons skirted past the Hillmen 5-4.
Payton Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexandria Ward, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
River Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Placer struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Del Campo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 16-8 to Twelve Bridges.
Alisha Taylor and Issabella Sanchez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Taylor went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Sanchez went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Wright, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
River Valley's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Del Campo, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
Everything went River Valley's way against Del Campo in their previous matchup back in April, as River Valley made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
