The Hobgood Charter Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Martin County Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hobgood Charter's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mattamuskeet with a sharp 13-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.
Haleigh Eason made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cristina Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Kinsey Peel was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Martin County got the win against John Paul II Catholic on Monday by a conclusive 12-5.
Martin County got a massive performance out of Izzy Williams, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Bennett, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Martin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Paul II Catholic only posted an OBP of .290.
Hobgood Charter pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Martin County, their record now sits at 15-2.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hobgood Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Martin County struggles in that department as they've averaged .422. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
