Football Game Preview: Brackett Tigers vs. Junction Eagles

The Brackett Tigers will square off against the Junction Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Brackett comes in on three and Junction on five.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Brackett and Sabinal had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Tigers came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 42-35 on Friday. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Tigers were the better team in the second half.

It was another big night for Abel Aguirre, who rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. Those 210 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Troy Sandoval, who gained 169 total yards and a touchdown.

Brackett's run defense was locked in: Sabinal could only muster two yards per carry. The Tigers' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.73 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 10.53 on average over their last five games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Junction). They claimed a resounding 48-0 victory over Falls City. The Eagles pushed the score to 41-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Beavers had no chance of recovering from.

Brackett now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Junction, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
