Midview (Grafton, Ohio) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 28-7 win over
Elyria Catholic (Elyria, Ohio).
The Middies put up seven points in the opening frame. Midview scored on a touchdown run by
Brett Bartone.
After taking the lead on a Bartone touchdown run in the first quarter, MHS led 14-0 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 14.
Bartone stood out for the Grafton school in the win. The junior ran for two touchdowns.
The Panthers' lone touchdown came on a 71-yard pass in the third quarter.
The Middies came into the game allowing 14.5 points per game.
A 34-7 Midview victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Elyria Catholic, which notched a 23-13 victory over North Ridgeville in its previous outing. The loss snapped Elyria Catholic's 2-game winning streak.
Midview (8-1) goes up against Bay in a West Shore game matchup next week, while Elyria Catholic (5-4) locks horns with Lakewood also in a West Shore game.
