Spring Hill is 8-2 against Ottawa since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Broncos will square off against the Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. Spring Hill is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
Spring Hill's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Baldwin 9-0. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by seven runs or more this season.
Jaleigh White was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. White was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
In other pitching news, Jayden Kistner looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Spring Hill let Olivia Fraley and Nora Burrell run wild. Fraley went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Burrell went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Burrell has posted over her last 12 matchups. Campbell Mermis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Spring Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 11 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ottawa can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Paola. The game was the first time the Cyclones have beaten the Panthers on their field since May 3, 2023.
Maria Vink spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.
At the plate, Ottawa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chanelle Fuller, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run. Kathy Gillett also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Spring Hill pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Ottawa, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Ottawa's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Spring Hill has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Ottawa, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Spring Hill's sizable advantage in that area, the Cyclones will need to find a way to close that gap.
Spring Hill took their win against Ottawa in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
