Prairie View and Boulder are an even 5-5 against one another since September 2017, but not for long. The Thunderhawks will venture away from home to take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Prairie View and Brighton have met recently (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Thunderhawks fell 3-1 to the Bulldogs.
Prairie View was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Brighton work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 23-25, 28-26, 25-19, 25-15.
Meanwhile, Boulder didn't have quite enough to beat Westminster on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 25-15 in the first set.
Boulder took Westminster into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 22-point loss. The final set scores came out to 15-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-20, 25-3.
Prairie View will have to keep a close watch on Sabrina Maiorca and Abigail Hellen, a pair of players who had a big impact on Boulder's prior game. Maiorca had 20 assists and four digs, while Hellen had 12 digs and 10 kills.
Prairie View has now lost seven of their last nine games at home. That's part of the reason why they have an 8-9 record this season. As for Boulder, they are now 10-8, having gone 1-2 since their four-game winning streak ended.
