While Wingate's win against Zuni wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Thunderbirds 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won seven in a row.

Wingate got a massive performance out of Katelynn Joe, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Nayeli Rico, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Wingate now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Zuni, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Wingate will venture away from home to take on Navajo Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zuni, they will take on Shiprock at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Chieftains have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.92 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
