Stuart is 0-3 against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Stuart Broncos will take on the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Stuart comes in on seven and Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on nine.
Even though Southwest scored an imposing 33 points on Friday, Stuart still came out on top. Stuart took down Southwest 50-33.
Stuart relied on the efforts of Benjamin Paxton, who picked up 98 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Kayde Ramm, who threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes. Paxton was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 66 yards.
Stuart's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Southwest's QB won't forget Simon Addison anytime soon given Addison sacked him five times.
Meanwhile, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They claimed a resounding 52-0 win over Paxton on the road. Given Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Paxton is ranked 78th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller relied on the efforts of Jordan Scoville, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and Maddox Jones, who rushed for 142 yards and four touchdowns. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played.
Stuart's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.33 points. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Stuart has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 244.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sumner-Eddyville-Miller struggles in that department as they've been averaging 224.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Stuart lost to Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on the road by a decisive 43-27 margin when the teams last played back in September. Can Stuart avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
