While Highland Springs' victory against Henrico wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Springers won by a run and slipped past the Warriors 7-6.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maggie Walker, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Henrico with a sharp 17-7 win on Friday. Maggie Walker hasn't had any issues with Henrico recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Hadley Walder made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Maggie Walker got a massive performance out of Kylea New, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles New has posted since back in May of 2024. Anu Ramesh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Highland Springs' record now sits at 10-6. As for Maggie Walker, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-10.
Highland Springs came out on top in a nail-biter against Maggie Walker in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 16-15. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Springers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
