Football Recap: Vian Piles Up the Points Against Keys

It's playoff time, and Vian had no trouble coming through when it counted. They breezed past the Keys Cougars to the tune of 63-14 on Friday. Considering the Wolverines have won ten games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Vian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Draighton Fletcher led the charge by rushing for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Those 167 rushing yards gave Fletcher a new career-high. Masyn Wright also helped out as he racked up 125 rushing yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Vian proved: they limited Keys to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The Wolverines didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.9.

Despite the defeat, Keys saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryder Davis threw for 173 yards and a pair of TDs. Tanner Starr was in the mix as well, providing the Cougars with two scores.

Vian pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.7 points over those games. As for Keys, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Vian will challenge Dibble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Demons have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups. Keys does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
