After flying high against Chandler Prep last Friday, Benson came back down to earth. The Benson Bobcats took a 45-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morenci Wildcats on Tuesday. The Bobcats' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Morenci got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tiara Jones out in front who went 7 for 16 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Jones is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rozlyn Funari, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.
Benson's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10. As for Morenci, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-14.
Benson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-22 win against San Miguel on the 30th. Morenci has also already played their next match, a 56-45 loss against Tombstone on the 30th.
