Ripley has gone a perfect 4-0 against Lincoln County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Vikings will square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Ripley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Ripley took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against George Washington, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings won by a run and slipped past the Patriots 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted against the Patriots since April 20, 2018.
Jackson Curry made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Curry was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Keller, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Peyton Keller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Sissonville hit Lincoln County with a seven-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell 8-4 to the Indians. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly four runs.
Lincoln County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Walker Kessel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Ripley's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Lincoln County, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ripley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Lincoln County struggles in that department as they've averaged .470. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Ripley's way against Lincoln County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Ripley made off with a 13-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
