Ballard and Bishop Blanchet are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Beavers will challenge the Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ballard is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Ballard and Seattle Prep, and Ballard kept the tradition alive. The Beavers walked away with a 10-6 win over the Panthers on Tuesday.
Alexa Hunt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Annika Jahn was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Wren Wald also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Ballard hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bishop Blanchet entered their contest against Roosevelt on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bears took a 22-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roughriders.
Fiona King made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Corinne Schuyler was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Ballard's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Bishop Blanchet, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1-1 and their overall record down to 6-2-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ballard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Bishop Blanchet struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ballard came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Blanchet in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
