The Pensacola Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Alpharetta Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pensacola is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pensacola ultimately got the result they hoped for last Friday. They escaped with a win against Escambia by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.
Pensacola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Jones led the charge by scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Nick Jones, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Alpharetta, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-47 loss to Archbishop Hannan on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Alpharetta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 242nd in Georgia, while Archbishop Hannan is ranked 22nd in Louisiana).
Pensacola's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Alpharetta, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
