The North Star Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Meyersdale 87-47 at home. The victory was familiar territory for North Star who now have four in a row.
North Star was led to victory by Andy Retassie and Brady Weimer. Retassie scored 16 points along with eight assists and five rebounds, while Weimer scored 27 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Weimer has scored at least 25% of North Star's points. Ethan Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Ryan Sechler and Matthew Hainsworth certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Sechler scored 14 points, while Hainsworth scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Carter Vogt, who scored six points.
North Star has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Meyersdale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
North Star will play host again and welcome Rockwood, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Rockwood is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Meyersdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Windber at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th.
