Woonsocket had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 56-51 win over East Greenwich on Thursday. The victory was just what Woonsocket needed coming off of a 51-30 loss in their prior matchup.
Aaron Kelly went supernova for Woonsocket, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kelly is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Angel Hernandez, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Classical came tearing into Monday's match with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 96-58 win over North Kingstown at home. Classical has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Woonsocket's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13. As for Classical, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
Woonsocket suffered a grim 75-54 defeat to the Purples in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Woonsocket avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
