The Lumberton Raiders entered their tilt with the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Lumberton took down Little Cypress-Mauriceville 24-7 on Friday. Lumberton pushed the score to 24-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Little Cypress-Mauriceville cut but never quite recovered from.
Lumberton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaddon Ward led the charge by rushing for 200 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Ward was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. Trey Kersh also helped out with an impressive 164 receiving yards.
Lumberton's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.5 points per game. As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.
Lumberton will take on Livingston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Livingston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 535th, while Lumberton is ranked 194th). As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, they will head out on the road to face off against Hargrave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
