Aloha hasn't had much luck against Sunset recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warriors will challenge the Apollos at 5:00 p.m. Aloha has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jesuit hit Aloha with a six-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors lost 11-4 to the Crusaders.
Aloha saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Sweatman, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI. Izzy Wagner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Sunset entered their tilt with Beaverton on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Beavers. Considering the Apollos have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Sydney Arnold made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kaia McKenna was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dajah Paz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Sunset's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Aloha, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Both Aloha and Sunset just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Sunset struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Aloha suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Sunset in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
