King-Chavez Community has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Monarch Royals on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, King-Chavez Community was beaten by San Diego Academy 35-6. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for King-Chavez Community in their matchups with San Diego Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Monarch had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They blew past School for Entrepreneurship & Technology 66-15 at home. Monarch's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
King-Chavez Community's loss was their tenth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.2 points per game. As for Monarch, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
King-Chavez Community suffered a grim 43-18 defeat to Monarch when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can King-Chavez Community avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
