Seymour is 8-1 against Northview Academy since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Seymour has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Seymour came up short against West on Monday, falling 15-4. The Eagles have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Seymour saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Wright, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Northview Academy never let their opponents score last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over Austin-East. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 7.9 runs per game.
Destiny Workman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Northview Academy got a massive performance out of Abigail Doty, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Doty a new career-high. Kylie Schultz was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Northview Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Northview Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.5 runs over those games. As for Seymour, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Everything went Seymour's way against Northview Academy in their previous matchup back in March, as Seymour made off with a 6-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
