3A Region III District 18 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Rockdale was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 3A Region III District 18. The Tigers vanquished the Tigers 34-28 earlier in the week.
Navasota extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Madisonville, 38-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Rattlers.
Navasota's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kadarius Baker threw for 153 and two touchdowns and Austin Collins had 90 yards receiving. On the ground Xavier Creeks chipped in 103 yards. Solomon McGinty helped Navasota's passing attack out by catching three balls for 41 yards.
Lee Fedora's team's Baker and McGinty have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Baker has thrown for 2232 yards this season, while McGinty has 41 catches for 913 yards. Caldwell's Caelin Goss leads the league in rushing yards with 287.
So far this year, he has garnered 42 catches for 913 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region III District 18 this week will be when Rockdale takes on the Mustangs. Jeff Miller's team is currently in third, while Madisonville is in second.
The Rattlers took down Greg Morgan's team 38-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Baker ran for 10 yards in the win.
