West Lincoln is 1-9 against Newton-Conover since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The West Lincoln Rebels will be staying on the road to face off against the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. West Lincoln will be strutting in after a victory while Newton-Conover will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, West Lincoln beat West Caldwell 31-23.
Meanwhile, Newton-Conover lost to Bandys at home by a decisive 47-30 margin on Tuesday. Newton-Conover has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Newton-Conover's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sara Sain, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, and Emma Smith who scored six points along with nine rebounds. Sain is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played.
Even though they lost, Newton-Conover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bandys only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
West Lincoln's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13. As for Newton-Conover, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
West Lincoln beat Newton-Conover 40-28 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Lincoln since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
