The University Prep Jaguars will take on the Hesperia Christian Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for University Prep, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-40 loss to Academy for Academic Excellence. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for University Prep in their matchups with Academy for Academic Excellence: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Hesperia Christian pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy.
Despite their loss, Hesperia Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Arlan Koester, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 24 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 34.5% of Hesperia Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Lake, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
University Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Hesperia Christian, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
University Prep took a serious blow against Hesperia Christian in their previous meeting on January 2nd, falling 73-30. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point University Prep was down 41-13.
