1A District 7 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Southern Lab extended the longest winning streak in 1A District 7 this week by beating Christian Life, 24-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Archbishop Hannan's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bruce DiMartino threw for 65 yards and Jason Brooks had 46 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Froeba chipped in 135 yards. Nick Pounds helped Archbishop Hannan's passing attack out by catching two balls for 19 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Tavarious Battiste of Kentwood is the league leader in passing yards this season with 729. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, the Hawks' Froeba has rushed for 694 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Brooks. The Archbishop Hannan star has 37 catches for 365 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Crusaders take on the Kangaroos. At the moment, Christian Life is in fourth, while Kentwood is in first.
David Currier's team led 1A District 7 in scoring this week after putting up 33 points on Mt. Hermon.
