Pacific Coast recap October 1, 2013
Irvine moved up to 292 from 408 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Pacific Coast. The Vaqueros were able to move up by beating Laguna Hills 30-13.
Corona del Mar added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Capistrano Valley, 43-14. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Brian Abel provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Northwood lost to Claremont. He completed 15 passes for 161 yards and also ran for 65 yards. Abel's key target this week was Addison Damasco, who caught 6 passes for 86 yards.
Parker Chase made the biggest impact on defense this week as Corona del Mar bested the Cougars. The 6-foot-2 defensive end.
Anthony Battista was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 146 yards on 17 carries as Scott Meyer's team lost to the Wolfpack. Teammate Hugh Crance added to the ground attack by rushing for 12 yards.
Corona del Mar's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Sea Kings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Luke Napolitano has thrown for 653 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Cole Collins has 17 catches for 328 yards.
The Sea Kings took down Capistrano Valley 43-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Napolitano threw for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns during the win.
