After flying high against the DeSoto County Bulldogs on Friday, the Venice Indians came back down to earth. Venice fell just short of Bayshore by a score of 64-61. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Venice came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Bayshore is ranked 334th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bayshore to victory, but perhaps none more so than Demetrios Kimon, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. The matchup was Kimon's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Antonio Romo, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds.
Venice's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Bayshore, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Venice won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lakewood Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Hopefully Lakewood Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Bayshore, they will head out on the road to face off against Southeast at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
