The Akron Rams were the 33-27 winner over the Sedgwick County Cougars when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Akron took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sedgwick County.
When it comes to explaining why Akron lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Kinsey Grauer. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Grauer has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Addi Kessinger, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Sedgwick County was led to victory by Abigail Dille and Lainee Nein. Dille scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Nein dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Dille has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Akron's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-3. As for Sedgwick County, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Akron will take on Briggsdale at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Briggsdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday. As for Sedgwick County, they will head out on the road to challenge Caliche at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Caliche focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
