Even though the Two Rivers Warriors have not done well against the Simley Spartans recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Two Rivers blew past the Spartans, posting a 64-24 win on the road. For Two Rivers, this counts as revenge for the 47-40 loss the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Leading Two Rivers to victory were Izzy Kirchner and Gabi Kirchner. Kirchner scored 17 points along with six steals, while Kirchner dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kirchner has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elayna Vannett, who scored four points along with eight assists and seven steals.
Two Rivers' win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Simley, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Two Rivers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Packers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South St. Paul is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Simley, they will head out on the road to challenge the Polars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Minnesota (North is ranked 332nd, while the Spartans are ranked 321st).
