Hancock is 0-10 against Northern since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hancock Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the Northern Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Hancock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Friday.
Hancock's recent rough patch got a bit rougher after their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against Turkeyfoot Valley Area, falling 58-20. Hancock was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-5.
The losing side was boosted by Skylar Smith, who scored 12 points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hancock struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Turkeyfoot Valley Area racked up 18 assists.
Meanwhile, Northern entered their tilt with East Hardy with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Northern strolled past East Hardy with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 56-39.
Hancock's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.6 points per game. As for Northern, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Hancock was dealt a bruising 63-4 defeat at the hands of Northern when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hancock was down 40-2.
