Pocatello hasn't had much luck against Twin Falls recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Thunder are taking a road trip to face off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. Pocatello is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Pocatello managed to slip by Vallivue the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Thunder came up short against the Falcons on Saturday, falling 10-4.
Parker Weinheimer made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Seal, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Twin Falls entered their tilt with Wood River on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolverines a 12-0 shutout. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.
Maddox Stadelmeir and Jordan BIngham were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Stadelmeir pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, BIngham pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stadelmeir has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Stadelmeir got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and four RBI, while BIngham went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI BIngham has posted over his last 11 matchups.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Reyes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base. Another was Treyson Walker, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Twin Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Twin Falls' record now sits at 15-4. As for Pocatello, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Pocatello suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Twin Falls when the teams last played back in March. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
