The DeLand Bulldogs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 58-23 win over Flagler Palm Coast. Given DeLand's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Flagler Palm Coast is ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyron Moore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 92 yards on only six carries, while also throwing for 118 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Marceles Carey and his 92 yards on the ground were also a key factor in DeLand's victory.
Another reason for the win was DeLand's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Flagler Palm Coast's QB won't forget Bartholomew Campbell anytime soon given Campbell sacked him twice.
DeLand's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Flagler Palm Coast, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
DeLand will be playing at home against Spruce Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Spruce Creek is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Flagler Palm Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
