Lyon County proved they can win big last Monday (they won by eight) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Walton-Verona Bearcats a 1-0 shutout. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Lyons have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Not much got past Brady Belt, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Walton-Verona off the board.

At the plate, Korben Lucas was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Lyon County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Walton-Verona, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

Looking ahead, Lyon County will square off against McCracken County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Walton-Verona, they will challenge Grant County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
