Weld Central is 0-4 against University since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rebels will challenge the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Weld Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Weld Central didn't have quite enough to beat Sterling and fell 3-2.
Weld Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Dinges, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Pierce Thoene was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, University came tearing into Monday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Broncos 12-3. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
Aiden Solano tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025.
On the hitting side, University got a massive performance out of Joel Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Ramirez has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Davey-Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
University kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
University's record is now 19-2. As for Weld Central, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Weld Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Weld Central suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to University in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
