It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Barrington Eagles had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against Cumberland by a score of 28-21. The win was familiar territory for Barrington who now have five in a row.
Several Clippers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Spencer, who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 125 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Ray was another key contributor, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown.
Barrington's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Cumberland, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 10-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barrington will take on Mt. Hope at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Mt. Hope is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Cumberland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woonsocket at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Woonsocket is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
