Barrington is 2-8 against Westerly since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Eagles will host the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Barrington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
While Barrington didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Scituate by a score of 9-6 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Kendall Fisher (2025) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Fisher (2025) was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Fontaine, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Ruby Ciummo (2025) was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Barrington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scituate only managed nine hits.
Meanwhile, Westerly faced Prout in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 5-3. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.
Westerly saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Keegan, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Keegan has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another was Maddie Mankoff, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Barrington's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Westerly, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
